Who We Work With

Skip Tracing & Missing Persons FAQs

How long does skip tracing typically take?

Most cases resolve in 1–4 weeks. Simple locates (family reunification, witness location) can wrap quickly; complex cases involving concealed assets or international movement may take longer. We give you an honest timeline at the start and update you regularly.

What if the person has moved to another province or country?

We have resources across Canada and international contacts. We can locate people who have relocated, and we can coordinate with local investigators or authorities in other jurisdictions if necessary.

Can you locate someone who is intentionally hiding?

Intentional hiders are our specialty. We use public records, digital footprint analysis, interviews with associates, and surveillance — all lawfully conducted — to locate people who do not want to be found.

Is skip tracing legal?

Yes, when conducted by a licensed private investigator following provincial law. We use lawful investigative methods and do not access private records illegally. Our evidence is admissible in court.

What's the difference between skip tracing and a missing persons investigation?

Skip tracing locates someone who's deliberately avoiding contact — a debtor, witness, ex-partner, or party to a lawsuit. Missing persons work focuses on people whose absence is unexplained and where safety is the concern. The methodology overlaps, but the urgency, family involvement, and police coordination are very different.

Can a private investigator find a parent who's avoiding child support?

Yes. Locating support-avoiding parents is one of the most common skip-trace scenarios. We trace the parent's current address, employment, and assets so your family lawyer or the Family Responsibility Office can enforce support, garnish wages, or register against property. We work with FRO-registered cases regularly.

Can you locate witnesses for a civil or criminal case?

Yes. Witness location is a standard service for plaintiff lawyers, defence counsel, and process servers. We trace witnesses who have moved, changed jobs, or gone underground, and where required we serve documents or facilitate contact through your counsel.

How do you find someone with no digital footprint?

Through public records, registry searches, neighbour and former-employer interviews, vehicle and property records, financial movement, and field investigation. Older or technology-averse subjects often leave better paper trails than younger ones — they just live in different records. We adjust the methodology to the subject.

Can you locate biological family members for adoption reunification?

Yes. We handle adoption-reunion searches with sensitivity for everyone involved — the searching adoptee, the biological parent, and any adoptive family. We do not initiate contact; we locate, verify identity, and prepare you to make contact through the channel you choose, often through a mediator.

What information do you need to start a skip trace?

A name and any identifying details: date of birth, last known address, last known employer, vehicle, family members, social media, photographs. The more detail you provide, the faster the trace. Even thin starting information is workable — we open many cases with little more than a full name and a city.

Can you serve legal papers once you locate the subject?

Yes. We coordinate with licensed process servers across Ontario and Canada, or our investigators can serve directly where appropriate. Locating and serving in one engagement saves time and reduces the chance the subject moves between location and service.
